Your developing baby

Your 6 month old maybe starting to sit up unaided, some of the time but will probably be rather wobbly, rolling around on the floor may be a common event now, some may even be moving around the floor (Refer to our safety section). It’s important to remember that babies do not develop at the same speed and in the same order. Babies at this age are interested in different textures and sounds so try and introduce new and exciting things as often as you can.
You have likely started weaning now – see weaning information in 6-8 week age page – Starting Solids no rush to mush.

Talking to baby important for their language development. No matter how silly you might feel, try to keep up a running commentary on everything you’re doing with your baby – it’s a great way to encourage their language.
