Safety at home and in the car

Moving around

Even though you bay can’t roll, they can wriggle and kick, so never leave them alone on high surfaces such as your bed or changing mat. Always supervise older toddlers and young children with your baby to avoid accidents.

Staying Safe

Babies’ skin is thinner than adults so they are at more risk from scalds from hot water. Never hold a baby and a hot drink at the same time. When running a bath, always turn the cold water on first, mix the water well and check the temperature with your elbow or bath thermometer before putting your baby in.

Sleeping safely

The safest place for baby to sleep is in their own cot. Keep cots free of heavy quilts, cot bumpers, pillows, cushions and cuddly toys.
